No Man’s Sky is the upcoming space exploration game from Hello Games which is coming to PlayStation 4 as well as PC. The game looks absolutely stunning and we’re beyond intrigued, and while we’ve seen screenshots and various gameplay clips, we’re none the wiser as to what you actually do in No Man’s Sky.
Thankfully, this 18-minute-long gameplay video shows us one of the many things players can achieve in the game when it launches.
The video, which features Hello Games’ Sean Murray, is a part of IGN’s First coverage. It shows Murray exploring a planet scanning for discoveries, alien creatures, and shooting crystals for resources. These resources can then be sold for Units, the game’s currency, which can be used to upgrade the players ship to it travels farther, and the player themselves with jetpacks and other things to make trips easier.
Players can also cause trouble on planets by shooting and eliminating its inhabitants, this then however causes Sentinels to appear. Sentinels are self replicating robot guardians which attack the player and become more vicious as the player retaliates. It works in a similar way to GTA’s 5 star wanted level. With Sentinel attacks becoming more stronger and ferocious depending on how high your warning system really is.
Though it’s a lengthy video, it’s definitely worth checking out.
Oh and when asked what was the end-goal for No Man’s Sky and what’s truly at the center of the universe, Murray jokingly replied, “Peter Molyneux.”
