Payday 2: Crimewave Edition for Xbox One is Seriously Broken

You may be wondering where our review of Payday 2: Crimewave Edition may be? Well, we unfortunately requested the game for Xbox One, received it fairly early before launch, but sadly it’s almost unplayable and has been that way for three weeks now despite promises of updates.

The problem seems to originate with, the game’s in-game network where players find and join missions. For some it randomly freezes, for others it’s impossible to join games, for some it’s both of these issues, and despite being promised an update, we’re still sitting here waiting.

Well there’s good news, as 505 Games has told Kotaku that a fix is on the way in the “coming days”.

We’re aware there’s a number of users on XBO who are having connectivity issues on We’re testing the patch now and hope to have it released in the coming days! We identified three issues on connectivity on the XBO platform (which only impacts a small number of players)—to which the patch should correct any freezes and server drops in We’re currently working with MSFT on testing the patch!

I think the most disappointing part of this statement is that it says a “small number” of players are effected, but in reality it’s a pretty hefty number and you don’t have to head too far to find people with the problem.

I for one am suffering, as is a friend of mine, and all of the replies to this tweet suggest it’s more than a “small number“.

Unfortunately the support for Payday on consoles hasn’t been great with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version of the original game receiving little to no support both technically and with DLC, whereas the PC version has a very bustling and active community, with tons of support from Overkill and Starbreeze.

The same with was promised with the current-gen console re-release, but as it stands right now, that promise has been broken.

So, fingers crossed a patch will be issued in a couple of days, because our review is seriously overdue.
