Quakecon And Fallout 4: What Did We Learn?

You guys don’t need any pretense, right?  We all know why we’re here.

So here’s what we’ve learned from Quakecon.  We’ve learned that your main character will have several options for companions on their quest through the game.  Twelve, in fact, and yes, Dog Meat is considered one of the options.  Interesting bit of info, Dog Meat is actually modeled after the lead dev’s dog.  They wanted really realistic movement for him, so they filmed the dog doing all sorts of things and used those models to make the beloved Dog Meat.

Next, Mr. Handy is actually voiced by the same voice actor who did Garrett in Thief (not the 2014 version, the previous ones, the most recent of which was released in 2000).  His name is Stephen Russel, and he also voiced several characters in Skyrim, and appeared in several movies.  It’s also interesting to note that Mr. Handy’s insides are programmed, so if you ever have to crack him open, take some time to appreciate that they went through that detail for you guys.

You can romance your companions, regardless of gender. So, there’s that, if that is your bag.  Perks will be tied to stats this time around, instead of levels.  Meaning, if stat #5 on your character in kick-ass, you will have access to the corresponding perk without having to first get your guy or gal up to level eleventy-seven.

Faction wars are a thing with Fallout 4.  You can interfere (if you happen to just be passing by) and pick a side, or simply watch and move on should you choose.  And finally, there are several popular features that have been confirmed as returning to the game:

  • Super Duper Mart
  • Computer Hacking
  • Lock Picking
  • Behemoth Mutants

To name a few.  So there you have it, the new scoop on one of this year’s most highly anticipated games, releasing on November 10th of this year for those who were not aware before now.
