Zero Escape

Fans of the Zero Escape series, rejoice. Zero Escape 3 has finally and officially been announced to be in development and will be making its way into our hands in the first half of 2016. Zero Escape 3 will be released on Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita as announced by publisher Aksys Games during a panel at Anime Expo 2015.

Not much information has been given at this time about Zero Escape 3 other than the fact that the game is in development with the Japanese and English versions being developed very close together. The 2016 release window refers to the American release with no Japanese date mentioned at this time. We can only hope that the European release will be close by so that we can get our hands on the final part of the Zero Escape story.

Up until this announcement, information in regards to Zero Escape 3 was pretty thin. We knew only that Zero Escape 3 promises to finish the story and tie everything together. Whether the game is set between the last two or is a direct sequel to Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward is still unclear at this point in time. The only new information we have about Zero Escape 3 at the moment is that the game promises familiar faces, fully voiced cut scenes, multiple endings, Japanese and English voice-overs and puzzle solving elements that “will be vital to your survival.”

Zero Escape

Back in February 2014, Kotaro Uchikoshi the creator of Zero Escape posted on Twitter that due to poor sales in Japan, Zero Escape 3 was put on hold. This lead to fans taking matter into their own hands creating Operation Bluebird, a campaign to show support for the series and drive forward the message that there really is serious interest for Zero Escape 3 to be released.

For now, we will have to wait and see what happened as we sit on the edge of our seats filled with joy for the upcoming release in first of 2016. Until then I think it is time to revisit both 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors and Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward and get the 3DS and PlayStation Vita ready.

Time to plan our escapes.
