It’s official, a second season of the Wachowskis’ hive-mind-super-hero-ish show, Sense8, has been ordered by Netflix.
In case you aren’t aware, the premise of the show centres on eight strangers from different parts of the world, who suddenly become mentally and emotionally linked. They find themselves in various dramatic situations, as they come to terms with their abilities and intense connection to each other.
The writers were eager to use the show as a platform to explore topics that are deeply emotive, such as identity and sense of self, gender and sexuality, and beliefs and values. I found it to be very thought-provoking, and the choreography of the fight scenes was just sublime. If you haven’t seen it yet, I urge you to check it out.
Netflix made the announcement yesterday, on August 8, to coincide with the birthday of the characters of the show. I really enjoyed the first season of Sense8, so I’m hopeful the momentum will continue to build, and that it won’t take a downward turn as some shows tend to do when they hit their second season.
