This morning Amazon announced a brand new tablet simply called the Fire tablet. It’s hardly anything to write home about other than it’s low £50 asking price, and get this, if you buy five, you’ll get a sixth for free!
Lord know’s why Amazon think it’s a good idea to ship a six-pack of low-end tablets, but hey, they’ve done it anyway. The new Amazon Fire tablet isn’t going to win any awards in terms of innovation. It’s fairly basic, it comes in a number of colours, and according to Amazon it’s more durable than an iPad Air and faster than a Samsing Galaxy Tap 3 Lite.
In terms of technical specifications, the device comes with a 7-inch display, offers a resolution of 1024 x 600, a 1.3Ghz quad-core processor, 8 GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, and your basic front- and rear-facing cameras. It also runs on Amazon’s Fire OS.
Amazon have done pretty well for themselves when it comes to affordable tablets. With the first Kindle Fire, they were among the first to release a decent spec tablet for under $200, and even their e-readers are becoming cheaper.
Why anyone would want six of them though, is beyond me, I guess they’d make good stocking fillers?
You can purchase your own Fire tablet now for £50. Or a pack of six for £249.95.
