Though we haven’t heard much about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4, we now know that those looking forward to the game’s co-op campaign will be missing out.
Though we’ve known since June that the last-gen version of Black Ops 3 would come with some reduced features, we didn’t realise that those features would be the entire damn campaign. In fact, up until now we were told that the campaign would be limited to two player co-op instead of four on the current-gen and PC version. Now, the entire campaign has been cut.
“The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player co-op campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware,” Activision explains. Instead players on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be able to access the game’s multiplayer – the most popular gameplay mode – and the zombies campaign. But wait, there’s more…
“Fans should note that other features built to leverage the next generation hardware like the new weapon paint shop and the new suite of e-sports tools will only be available on Call of Duty: Black Ops III for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.”
So in actual fact, last-gen players will not only miss out on the campaign, but they’ll also miss out on a few key features which hope to make this new game completely unique.
To make up for this, the game will be $10 cheaper, and will also come with a code for the original Black Ops game.
