EA Details Star Wars Battlefront’s Hero and Villain System

You may have seen during the many gameplay videos of Star Wars Battlefront that players can assume the roles of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, and now EA has detailed exactly how players go about donning the mask of one of the most iconic movie villains.

According to Senior Producer Jamie Keen, players will have only a few short minutes with both Skywalker and Vader, as well as other characters from the Star Wars universe, providing they can find the corresponding pickup for that character.

Keen didn’t reveal whether these pickups will be in the same place on each map or whether they’ll be on rotation, but chances are it’s the latter, otherwise it’ll be a race for the Hero on every map.

Once acquired, players then become that hero, but only for a few minutes, explains Keen. You see, as soon as you become that character, the life bar goes down and in order to stay alive you must kill.

Keen explained the reason for this in more detail:

Our goal was to give an average player around two minutes as a Hero or Villain. But if you’re good enough, you might stretch that to around five minutes. In theory, you could play as Luke Skywalker for a whole match, but that is extremely unlikely. That said, the gauntlet is thrown!

For players who assume the role of Skywalker, you’ll be able to take advantage of his many abilities, including The Force.

His jump is based on a normal biomechanical jump, but it’s augmented by the Force. You see this in the films as well, such as when he’s jumping out of the carbonite pit or when he’s training on Dagobah.

Skywalker will also be able to dish out some heavy attacks using his lightsaber and accompanying saber rush attack. But you better be quick, otherwise you’ll be back to your blaster wielding self in no time.
