With movies based on video games doing pretty poorly over the past few months, excitement has sparked once again following the release of a new trailer for a movie called Hardcore, a movie inspired and filmed entirely as a First Person Shooter.
It’s a pretty ruthless first person experience which draws direct influence from the world of first person shooters. The first trailer, which is pretty brutal, has launched at the Toronto International Film Festival, and looks pretty great. Check it out above.
You may recognise the POV footage from an earlier video by director Ilya Naishuller who released the new award-winning first-person music video that he directed for his band, Biting Elbows. It was so well received that it caught the attention of Timur Bekmambetov, the man behind Nightwatch and Wanted, and offered to produce a film showcasing Naishuller’s techniques.
Hardcore is due for release in 2016 and stars District 9’s Sharlto Copley.
