Instagram, the popular photo-sharing social network, has announced that it currently has 400 million users, a figure that’s shot up since their announcement of 300 million users last December.
The service first launched five years ago exclusive to iOS. Since then it has now launched on a number of devices and continues to rapidly grow its user base, speaking of which, Instagram also revealed that its users share more than 80 million photos per day.
Of its users, among the last 100 million to join, more than half live in Europe and Asia, and of the total 400 million user base, 75 per cent are living outside of the US.
With Instagram being Facebook owned, the social network is celebrating big, with Facebook hitting one billion concurrent users earlier this year, Facebook Messenger has over 700 million users, and Facebook-owned WhatsApp has 800 million.
