iPhone 6s feature

Following last year’s incredible record-breaking performance of the iPhone 6, Apple has revealed that they’re set to repeat last year’s performance as iPhone 6S pre-orders have gone through the roof.

When Apple opened pre-orders for the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, within 24 hours the company received 4 million pre-orders, a record-breaking number for the company since the launch of the iPhone 5 which launched in 2012. That’s all about to change however as over the weekend, within 24 hours again, Apple has announced that compared to the iPhone 6’s launch weekend sales (which hit around 10 million units), the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus is on track to beat that number.

Apple’s statement on the matter was released earlier this morning to CNBC and pretty much confirms earlier reports over the weekend that found pretty strong demand for the new handsets in China – a country that Apple has found an insane amount of success in such little time.

It seems in a little under 24 hours, the wait-time in China for the iPhone 6 Plus is currently sitting at three-to-four weeks, with the iPhone 6 seeing wait times of two-to-three weeks.

As for the UK Apple Store, it’s still looking like delivery of the devices are on track for September 25 when the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S is set to launch in various countries including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the U.K. and the U.S..

Apple announced the two new iPhones last week, touting them as more than just a simple upgrade, in fact, both devices are the biggest upgrades an “s” version of Apple’s smartphones have received for a long time.

Here’s Apple’s full statement on the matter:

Customer response to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been extremely positive and preorders this weekend were very strong around the world. We are on pace to beat last year’s 10 million unit first-weekend record when the new iPhones go on sale September 25.

As many customers noticed, the online demand for iPhone 6s Plus has been exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the preorder period. We are working to catch up as quickly as we can, and we will have iPhone 6s Plus as well as iPhone 6s units available at Apple retail stores when they open next Friday.
