Mojang and Telltale Games has finally announced the release of the first episode of their next episodic adventure game, Minecraft: Story Mode. The Order of the Stone is the name of the first of five episodes, and it will premier on Tuesday, October 13.
This episode will be available at launch on most platforms, including PC and Mac via Steam or the Telltale Online Store, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, as well as Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It’ll also launch on mobile on October 15.
It’ll also be coming to the Wii U and PS Vita, but no release date has been set just yet.
As for retail release, Minecraft; Story Mode will also be available on a season pass disc and will be available in North America on Tuesday, October 26, followed by an European release on Friday, October 30. The retail platforms will include Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3 in North America, and in Europe the same platforms with the addition of PC.
In Minecraft Story Mode, players take on the role of a male or female character named Jesse, they’ll be embarking on a “perilous” adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End.
The game’s press release also reads:
“You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon. While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, Jesse’s friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion.”
The game also features an all-star cast, with Patton Oswalt as male Jesse, Catherine Taber as female Jesse. Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens will also star, and additional casting details for the season are yet to be announced.
