According to Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, Pikmin 4 is in development, and in the very same interview, held by Eurogamer back in July, it’s “very close to completion,” surely that means by now it could be finished, right?
Eurogamer published an interview today that took place in July with Miyamoto where they talked about the next colourful adventure game, Pikmin, and in that interview Miyamoto revealed that a new one was coming and that it was almost complete.
“It’s actually very close to completion,” Miyamoto said. “Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”
Nintendo has also confirmed the news in a separate statement to the publication saying:
“We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present.”
The last Pikmin title launched on the Wii U in 2013, so we’re all about ready for the next instalment into the series, right? Well maybe not, as Miyamoto didn’t reveal which platform Pikmin 4 will launch on which could suggest Nintendo are saving it for their Codename NX console.
Though with the game almost near completion, we’d also speculate that it could launch for Nintendo’s current hardware too, though again, that’s all just speculation for now.
Nintendo is expected to announce more details about Codename NX in early 2016, and with this year’s release slate from Ninteno being quite chock full, it’s likely Pikmin 4 could be a launch title for the new console.
