If you’ve tried to log into Skype at some point today, chances are you’ve had some trouble. Well you’re not alone as it seems Skype across the globe is having some sort of connectivity issue.
For some users a series of connectivity issues have caused some major service disruptions throughout most of today. The company has aknowledged the issue and are working to fix “an issue that is affecting Skype in a number of ways”. The problems have however continued for a number of hours, causing problems for a lot of its regular users.
The error is causing all contacts to appear offline, even for those actually logged in, making it impossible to make voice calls. Apparently the messaging side of Skype is working well, but for those who rely on its calling feature are being left frustrated.
For those signing into Skype for the day, you’ll also be struggling to log in while the problem persists. Those making changes to their accounts may also see some delay in the information updating.
“We’re doing everything we can to fix this issue and hope to have another update for you soon,” says Skype.
In the latest update on the situation, Skype say:
We have identified the network issue which prevented users from logging in and using Skype today. We’re in the process of reconnecting our users, and focused on restoring full service. The issue did not affect Skype for Business users.
We're pleased to say we've found and are now rectifying the Skype problem you may have had today. For latest info: http://t.co/COwIPfl7s3
