With WWE 2K16 not far off on the horizon, there has been an absolute locker room of information published over the past month. Including new pin and submission systems, the welcome return of game modes missing from last year’s above average wrestlefest from 2K and the entire list of 120+ playable spandex-sporters, there’s a lot to be excited for when October the 27th comes around.

Even more exciting is the prospect that a large number of that list come straight from the WWE’s Attitude era, probably the most interesting and entertaining time in the history of the company and a point where I was a huge fan. This ties in with the Stone Cold Showcase mode, which will undoubtedly cover his feuds with The Rock, Mick Foley and Vince McMahon from his long spanning career.

The pin, chain-wrestling and submission systems also seem to have had a bit of an overhaul too. The old ‘hit the button at the right time’ bar for pinning and subs has now gone and has more of a struggle style, hopefully lessening the frustration of players with extremely bad timing. Ladder and handicap matches will be playable outside of certain modes too, being glaringly missing from free play in WWE 2K15.

WWE-2K16-Screenshotsimage-2015-08-18-12-40-21The absent creation modes have also returned, allowing you to create arenas, title belts, your own shows and best of all, Divas. It seems as though a few of the more prominent ladies of WWE haven’t made the final roster cut, so it’ll be good to finally use one of the 100 character slots (previously 25) to whip up your own Sable, Trish Stratus and Chyna.

With the roster finally updated to its full capacity (so far as we know), there’s a good mix of classic, Attitude, Ruthless Aggression and current PG/Reality era stars to beat the snot out of John Cena with… Can’t wait to pull off a Stinkface on him with Rikishi.

While there are definitely factions among the names like The Nation of Domination, there’s a few missing wrestlers I’d love to see make up more. The great Owen Hart, possibly due to respectful reasons, has been left out of the full Hart Foundation. While X-Pac and Billy Gunn have been announced, there’s no Road Dogg to complete D-Generation X. Ministry Undertaker is also there but unfortunately, only Edge and Christian are among the members there too unless both Farooq and JBL have APA attires.

It’s possible that this is still not the full line-up and there’s more to come. It may be that you’ll have to fill in the blanks with CAW’s but whatever the minor problems here, the creation of wrestlers has been a staple of the community and there are some amazing crafters of men in tights out there. I’m pretty sure the recent return of the Dudley Boyz will be future DLC too as there are usually a few packs tagged on later in the year.

Well have more information as 2K release it right here on n3.
