Holiday season is just around the corner! The n3 office is covered in glitter trails and half-eaten candy canes. But it’s not all fun and games, the friendly elves at n3rdabl3 are here to help you find the perfect gift for your nearest and dearest, like… LEGO Star Wars!

Fans of Star Wars are in for a real treat this holiday season with the new Star Wars Buildable Figures from everyone’s favourite Danish toy maker, LEGO. Perfect for big kids or little kids (9 years or over) who never quite outgrew their love of either LEGO or Star Wars.

With the Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens out December 18, this gift idea is not just nerdy and cool, it is also relevant.

Allow me to guide you through the collection and help you make the right choice.

Luke Skywalker

Fearless Luke Skywalker is one of the galaxy’s most powerful Jedi knights. Build your own LEGO model of this renowned fighter and use the Force to defeat his enemies. This figure has his trusted green light sabre, as well as a blaster gun and handcuffs and holster.

This build is not difficult and doesn’t take very long to complete. The figure is okay for the price and is a firm favourite for fans of the films.

Jango Fett

Renowned Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett is one of the best in the galaxy and father of Boba Fett. Cool, efficient and ruthless, he’s easily recognisable by his silver and blue helmet. He comes feature packed with fully pose-able limbs, a detailed armoured suit, a pair of blasters, a jet pack and a fire-able missile blaster on his back.

This build is not very difficult and the process is over fairly quickly. The figure is fantastic for the price and is a firm favourite with children. The flick-able missile on his back is a bit of extra fun.

Price Range: £10 – £15

Clone Commander Cody

Clone Commander Cody may be one of the cheapest of the LEGO Star Wars Buildable Figures collection but he is one of my favourite.

Cody comes with the usual features of fully pose-able limbs and wears his custom orange armour. Unlike other models that are equipped with lightsabers, Clone Commander Cody comes with his two-handed blaster gun and communications back-pack.

The build is very simple and takes almost no time at all. The end result is a figure that looks fantastic, with great contrast, looking a lot more expensive than he actually his.

Price Range: £10 – £15

Darth Vader

Coming in at a whopping 28cm tall, this striking figure of Darth Vader is a great addition to any collection. He comes feature packed with fully pose-able limbs, a black armoured suit, a fabric cape and a buildable red Lightsaber.

Whilst the cape isn’t exactly the greatest cape I’ve seen on a LEGO figure, the build quality and the finished product make an excellent toy or display piece.

I found the building of this particular figure to be moderately difficult, with a lot of smaller pieces used to build up Lord Vader’s chest. However the end result is definitely worth the effort.

Price Range: £20 – £25

LEGO 75111

160 pieces

Recommended age: 9+

Recommended for: Star Wars fans new and old. This build is a little more difficult than the previous.

General Grievous

The leader of the separatist Droid Army is one formidable foe. General Grievous has not 1 but 4 light sabres for quadruple the battling power. Build your LEGO version of this tough cookie, with his fully 2-into-4 separating arms and lead the Droid Army against the Jedi. You can strike some cool poses as well, since the General’s limbs can be moved.

This figure is by far the biggest and most impressive of the collection. The build is a lot longer than any of the others and does take a bit of time to complete. The completed figure looks very impressive and stands head and shoulders above the others models.

Price Range: £20-£30

LEGO 75112

Obi Wan Kenobi

Unleash the power of the Force with this LEGO version of the Jedi Master. He’s dressed in his white Clone armour, fabric cape and has his blue light sabre ready. Strike some cool poses – Ben Kenobi has moveable limbs – and let Obi Wan Kenobi command the Clone Army against the Separatists!

obi wan kenobi

Obi-Wan is a fantastic model with a tan cape and blue light sabre. The build is simple enough and the completed figure looks great.

Price Range: £15-£20
