Holy smokes, Batman [fans]! Telltale Games, the developer behind the hit The Walking Dead, Fables: The Wolf Among Us, and Game of Thrones have announced at the earlier TGA 2015 show that they are working on an all-new DC based series centred on Batman to release next year!
For those of you unfamiliar with Telltale Games’ work, they have become massively popular in recent years for creating episodic ‘Point & Click’ games based on beloved franchises such as The Walking Dead, Fables, Game of Thrones, and even Back To The Future. And now, it seems they are set to take on one of the most popular heroes of all time. While the teaser trailer shown shown at the awards show will not be available officially until later this week, you can check it out now by jumping to 53:18 on the full show below.
Telltale Games have provided an official statement from Co-Founder & CEO of TTG, Kevin Bruner, via their official blog. He had this to say:
“At Telltale, we’ve been honored to bring our unique approach to interactive storytelling to some of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world, and we’re excited to announce that we’ll soon be exploring what it means to be Batman in an all-new series starting next year. This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”
David Haddad, the President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment also commented, issuing the following comment:
“Telltale has an established track record of creating award-winning content for some of the best properties in the world. We look forward to working with the team as they deliver a new interactive way for fans and gamers to experience the rich narrative world of Batman.”
The first episode of Telltale’s currently untitled Batman game will release in 2016.
