I absolutely loved the books by Roald Dahl as a kid, I also adored the first Jurassic Park, so it’s safe to say I’m pretty excited for Spielberg’s The BFG a blend of both fantastic story telling, as well as movie creation! I certainly have high hopes for this.
The first trailer has arrived, and it’s everything we hoped it to be, though we’re yet to see what the BFG actually looks like, though from past feature-length recreations, we know he looks something like this:
For those who never read books as a kid, The BFG tells the story of a young girl and a giant, known as The BFG, or Big Friendly Giant, who introduces her to the wonders, and perils of Giant Country.
The BFG is different from all of the other giants, at 24-feet tall, he’s pretty small compared to other bigger and meaner giants, Bloodbottler and Fleshlumbeater, and have been known to eat humans. The BFG on the other hand, would rather eat Snozzcumbers and Frobscottle.
Honestly, it sounds ridiculous, but that’s Dahl for you. It’s an enchanting story which brought my imagination to life as a kid. So I’m really hoping the movie does just the same to my adult brain.
The BFG premiers in theatres on July 22, 2016.
