I’ve had an idea for a comic book, how a comic about some X-men characters who are mutants and ninjas? Maybe they could look like Turtles? Or maybe we could talk about the two blockbuster trailers that have been dropped.
Just in case you missed them, last week two big trailers dropped, one for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, and another for X-Men: Apocalypes, check them out, along with some critique below.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 – Oh joy, they made another one. OK let’s drop the Pokémon cards on the table, the first one of these Michael Bay produced reboot was OK, an all right action movie, just a shame no one put any real effort into such a great property.
So one of the biggest critiques is that the first one borrowed an awful lot from the Amazing Spider-man, which then borrowed a lot from Batman Begins. This time around this one’s borrowing from The Avengers with a big alien invasion of New York as they invade a portal.
Also borrowing from the hot stuff superhero movies is the continuity. With more characters and stuff. Look Bebop and Rocksteady, The Krang, Casey Jones and Baxter Stockman.
So the turtles look less over-designed and aren’t as big and hulky as they were in the first film. The voice acting is just poor for the Turtles and their new CGI sparring partners Bebop and Rocksteady. Boring and generic, you’re going struggle to tell which one’s speaking.
Check out Megan Fox doing what she did in the second Transformers and just being eye-candy. So yeah, that was the trailer.
X-Men: Apocalypse – So it’s the first in the new timeline for the X-Men series, and FOX have a lot to make up for with the poorly received Fantastic Four movie. What era is this one set in? Not sure yet, maybe the 80’s or the 90’s? I mean Apocalypse’s big story was in the 90’s.
So, let’s see Bryan Singer taking on all the feedback from his previous X-Men movies and try again. Want to see more of your favourite character from the cartoon? Well, it looks like Jean, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Storm will have a bit more screen time since Wolverine wasn’t in the trailer.
Check out the standard favourite X-Men cameos in the form of Jubilee who’ll be about as used as Puke from the last film…
