Pokkén Tournament is probably one of my anticipated games of 2016. I mean, the usual Pokémon RPG’s are fantastic, but being able to step in the ring as one of my favourite Poké’s to bring the beatdown to another Poké, just sounds awesome!
Following the game’s launch into Japanese arcades, Nintendo and Bandai Namco announced that the game would indeed be coming to the Wii U home console next year beinging Tekken infused brawling to the Pokémon universe.
If you’re not exactly sure what to expect, here’s the game’s Wii U introduction trailer to get you up to speed:
Now, for those of you who’ve been following the game’s launch into arcades, you’ll remember that the systems had their own types of controllers. Well it turns out a dedicated Pokkén Tournament controller is coming for the Wii U, at least, the Japanese version is getting the controller, anyway.
Accessory maker Hori has revealed that it’ll be releasing the Pokkén Tournament game pad, which is modelled after the arcade version’s controller. Of course, you won’t need the controller in order to play the game, the GamePad will work fine, as will the Wii U Pro Controller and the Wii Classic Controller Pro.
Pokkén Tournament launches in the west some time next Spring.
