If you are a fan of DC & The CW’s “Arrowverse” – the shared universe that the hit series Arrow and The Flash (as well as the upcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) are set in – then there is a decent chance you may have heard of the animated web mini-series Vixen that was released via The CW’s online streaming platform, CW Seed, earlier this year. But if you haven’t checked the show out yet, now’s probably the time – Vixen will be making her live-action debut later this season on Arrow!
The news comes via an exclusive scoop over at TVInsider, who were able to reveal a few things about the character’s upcoming live-action appearance.
- The animal-based heroine is currently set to debut on Arrow 4×15, though details as to what brings Mari McCabe to Star City are still being kept under the rug
- Megalyn Echikunwoke, who voiced McCabe/Vixen in the animated series, will be reprising her role as the character. That’s right people, no recasting going on here
For those unfamiliar with the character, Vixen is equipped with a mystical totem that gives her the ability to mimic any animal’s characteristics – for example, she can mimic a falcon’s ability to fly, or run as fast a cheetah – the only catch being, she can only mimic one animal at a time. Vixen has already interacted with Arrow characters Oliver Queen/Green Arrow [Stephen Amell] and Felicity Smoak [Emily Bett-Rickards] (as well as The Flash stars Barry Allen/The Flash [Grant Gustin] and Cisco Ramon/Vibe [Carlos Valdez]), so it will be interesting to see how much of that history transfers over to the the guest appearance.
Executive producer of both Arrow & Vixen Marc Guggenheim had the following to say on the matter:
“We’re not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Seed hit, Vixen, we’re immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe”
The fourth season of Arrow is currently on mid-season break, but you can catch the show when it returns January 21st, and Vixen’s appearance February 24th, over on The CW.
