Image & Form have finally completed development on their follow-up to SteamWorld Dig and have announced the game’s release date!
Set to land on Nintendo 3DS, SteamWorld Heist is a step-away from what you’re used to in Dig. Heist is a side-scrolling turn-based tactical shooter where players take control of a rag-tag group of steam-powered robots in search of precious resources, namely water, to stay alive.
During which players will embark on recovery missions (also known as heists) to “recover” said resources from a number of different factions, all of which have their own unique units ready to do what it takes to stop you stealing their booty.
OH. I haven’t gotten to the release date yet, have I?
SteamWorld Heist launches on Nintendo 3DS in the Americas, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand on December 10. Image & Form has revealed that the Japanese version will come later, as will other platforms, though sadly details of which haven’t been released yet.
The game will cost players $19.99 / €19.99 / £14.99, and the reason for the price, according to Image & Form is because the game is 5 times bigger than Dig, which costs $9.99. BUT seeing as it’s Christmas, they’re offering the game from launch until December 31, for $16.99 / €16.99 / £11.99 AND they’re also giving away an exclusive Nintendo 3DS Home Menu theme with every purchase of SteamWorld Heist, but you better hurry becausse after this it will no longer be available.
In short, December 10 launches a game where you play as Steam-powered space pirates stealing water to remain… steamy?
