For those of you who thought Dying Light just wasn’t hard enough, then be prepared for the nightmare as Techland has announced that in the upcoming enhanced edition, a brand new Nightmare difficulty mode will put players to the test.
In another episode of Techland’s “Highlights” series, the developer dives into the multiple improvements and additions that’ll be coming to Dying Light both in the form of a free update for existing Dying Light owners and as part of the Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition.
This particular video takes a look at the game’s Nightmare mode, a new difficulty level that restricts overpowered “Easter Egg” weapons, adds XP penalties for dying, as well as ramping up the difficulty of enemies, and much more.
“We’ve designed the Nightmare Mode for those seeking a really challenging and immersive experience. Nightmare Mode takes everything that was brutal in our Hard Mode and twists it even more” – says producer Tymon Smektała. “We’re trying to bring the Dying Light experience closer and closer to the feeling of a real apocalypse survival experience where every move you make can really determine if you live or die. We’ve added one bit of salvation though. Playing Nightmare Mode in co-op will earn you XP faster and increase your chance of finding gold tier weapons.”
Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition launches on February 9 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It’ll come packed with the base game and all expansions, including the upcoming expansion, The Following. At the same time, players who already own the base game will receive an update that’ll add new features as well as a number of improvements to the game.
