While the possibility of a new, official Half-Life game seems pretty much nonexistent, fans can get their fix through a fan-made spin off coming to Steam soon.
The game will be available for purchase on February 11th under the name Prospekt. Said to be a continuation of Half-Life: Opposing, players will carry on as U.S. Marine Adrian Shepard, who hasn’t made an appearance since his role as protagonist in Opposing. Through Prospekt, players can return to the world of Half-Life 2, as the game is set in the same time period but tells a parallel story.
The game will feature 13 new levels set in the Half-Life universe and will be available for a humble $10 ($9 if you pre-order) after it drops on Steam. The game wasn’t officially developed by Valve, but has received substantial support thus far due to the fact that Valve has given Prospekt’s lone developer Richard Seabrook the okay to develop a game that uses Half-Life’s license and art assets.
Seabrook promises a “substantial, highly-polished, and totally new addition to the Half-Life 2 Universe.”
