Microsoft promised that they were coming and now they’re finally here. As with December, Microsoft has a new line-up of games to be added to the backwards compatibility list, with The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings headlining, they’ve also revealed a new way of revealing Backwards Compatible titles.

It seems gamers are a little too impatient to find out exactly which games are backwards compatible with the Xbox One, so from today onwards, Microsoft will release Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles as they become available rather than on a set monthly launch date.

Titles will go live as soon as they’ve received the required engineering and the publishers stamp of approval, Microsoft revealed.

So what’s on offer this month, for the final round-up of backwards compatible titles?

  • The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
  • Sam & Max Save the World
  • Aegis Wing
  • Counter-Strike: GO
  • Age of Booty
  • Space Giraffe
  • Soulcalibur
  • Skullgirls
  • Jeremy McGrath’s Offroad
  • Small Arms

What’s more, for select regions, Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners can download The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings absolutely free on from now until February 5. Unfortunately however, it seems the offer isn’t available for UK gamers.

As for the current most played backwards compatible games, Microsoft has released the following list:

  1. Fallout 3
  2. Just Cause 2
  3. Gears of War 3
  4. DiRT 3
  5. Assassin’s Creed II
  6. Fable II
  7. Borderlands
  8. Battleblock Theatre
  9. Mass Effect
  10. Gears of War: Judgment
