Don’t worry, you’ve not travelled back in time, the Old School version of RuneScape is indeed getting a brand new continent this week, and is the debut area of a three-part phased launch.

To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the original RuneScape, Jagex has shifted focus on the game that started it all, Old School RuneScape, though obviously it wasn’t called Old School RuneScape back in 2001, back then it was just plain old RuneScape. In 2013 however, Jagex decided to resurrect an Old School version of the game – from 2007 – and ever since, it’s become just as popular as the core title.

Anyway, I’ve wandered off a little.

Old School RuneScape has this week received a brand new region, the region of Zeah, a new land exclusive to the Old School version of the game, which acts as the inaugural zone of a three-part phased launch with new areas becoming available over the next year-long celebration.

Zeah features the city of Great Kourend, the first section which sees players choose from one of five factions who are battling it out across the city. Forging an allegiance will allow players to earn reputation to access new content within the game, and as well as obtaining new weapons and armour, they’ll be called upon to protect the city from criminal gangs, lizard men, as well as smuggle contraband onto the city streets.

Jagex Games Studio, creators and custodians of the fantasy MMORPG, RuneScape, have unveiled the first region of Zeah, a new land exclusive to Old School RuneScape. Available to access from today the debut area arrives as the inaugural zone of a three-part phased launch. New areas will become available over the next 12 months, as Old School celebrates the 15th anniversary of the original RuneScape.

“Our dedicated development team has been beavering away on Zeah for quite some time, so it’s fantastic that we can finally unlock the doors to Great Kourend,” said Mathew Kemp, product manager, Old School RuneScape. “The launch of an entire landmass exclusive to Old School RuneScape over the course of 2016, and the new content it will bring to our excellent community, is really exciting. Zeah also underlines the success Old School has experienced since its launch in 2013.”

This year is set to see a number of big announcements from Jagex about RuneScape. 15 years is a massive milestone and makes me feel really damn old.
