Shit the bed… EA Games’ Plants vs. Zombies shooter, Plants vs. Zombies 2: Garden Warfare is getting an open beta next week, and I for one can’t freaking wait.
In case you missed the first one, think Gears of War but in the colourful bouncy world of Plants vs. Zombies. It’s a third person multiplayer shooter which pits the undead vs a variety of garden fodder in a series of multiplayer modes similar to team deathmatch, domination, and much more.
The original was an absolute blast and with the second set to include a number of improvements, I can’t contain my excitement.
So this open beta? What’s it all about and when is it happening?
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2’s open multiplayer beta is set to begin on Wednesday, January 14 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’ll last for just four days, concluding on January 18.
As for what it’ll contain, players can expect to experience the new Backyard Battleground the games brand new in-game hub, as well as Flag of Power, a King of the Hill-inspired mode where players try to raise their flag all while the enemy tries to lower it in favour of their own.
In addition, the brand new 24-player Herbal Assault and Gardens & Graveyards modes will also be playable. There’ll also be a total of four maps, including Moon Base Z, Frosty Creek, Z-Tech Factory, and Seeds of Time.
As for the characters available, there’ll be six new characters to play from, with Rose, Citron, and Kernel Corn making up the Plants team, and Imp, Super Brainz, and Captain Deadbeard making up the Zombies team.
