reddit, the “front page of the Internet” has announced the launch of Ask Me Anything: Volume One, a hardback book which has compiled some of the site’s best AMAs from the popular r/IAmA subreddit.
Yep, if you ever want to catch up with some of the best AMAs including Bill Gates, Louis C.K., Chris Rock, and other not-so-famous people such as a Waffle House Grill Master, Nazi Germany Survivors, and a Nuclear Missile Operator, all in one gorgeous looking coffee table book.
In addition to the various Q&As, the book also includes some original portraits of some of those who have answered the community’s questions. In total there’s 400 pages of AMA goodness, but you’ll have to act fast as only 10,000 copies are being printed.
Some of the proceeds will also be going to a charity of the mods choosing.
reddit’s AMAs suffered a bit of controversy in 2015 following the unexpected removal of one of the community’s favourite mods, Victoria Taylor, also known as /u/chooter, who did more than just moderate threads, she organised AMAs with most of the big names featured in the book, she also answered questions on behalf of celebrities who maybe couldn’t quite sit in front of a computer all day.
Upon discovery of the news, reddit went into a bit of a meltdown with various subreddits going dark, including “default” subreddits – the ones shown to non-logged in and new users. This caused reddit to become pretty desolate. The drama continued for around a week with users calling for then CEO Ellen Pao to resign and she did just that, but not before dropping some serious truth bombs.
Anyway, since then reddit has recovered and things are mostly back to normal. There are however a few things that have left a bitter taste in some users’ mouths, but that’s another story.
You can purchase Ask Me Anything: Volume One for $34.99 for the hardcover version, or $4.83 for the Kindle edition.
