Fans of The CW’s hit series, The Flash, are in for some good news today, as the show’s Executive Producer, Andrew Kreisberg, has confirmed that guest star Robbie Amell will be returning to the show’s second season – with a twist.
No, Amell WON’T be reprising the role of the Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm we know, but rather as his Earth-2 counterpart, and the name may sound familiar to avid fans – Deathstorm!
Now, Deathstorm exists in two separate forms in the comics – as a member of the Black Lantern Corps [an army of resurrected zombie versions of heroes and villains who took on the DC Universe in the crossover event ‘Blackest Night’], and as a member of the Earth-3 Crime Syndicate [an evil, super-mafia analogue of the Justice League], though it is unlikely that Deathstorm will have much in common with those incarnations of the character.
Not much is known about the character’s impact on the show at this point, but The Flash EP Andrew Kreisberg said the following on the topic in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm.

Fans have speculated for some time now that this could be the fate of the beloved character, but having official confirmation makes it all that much sweeter. Throw in the fact that Danielle Panabaker’s Caitlin Snow will have her Earth-2 counterpart showing up as Killer Frost, and this all makes for some exciting content when the show returns with it’s midseason premiere and beyond.
The Flash Season Two returns January 19.
