An adventure game that came somewhat out of nowhere has caught the attention of tons of different Steam players, including Nathan Grayson of Kotaku. Scrap Mechanic is an adventure game that’s currently in Steam Early Access, and it’s awesome (as well as sitting atop the Steam Early Access Top Sellers list).
In it’s current state, it’s not much of an adventure title though, it’s more of a building game, where a players objective is to simply build some sort of Frankenstein-like driving machine to traverse the world Axolot Games has built.
The devs plan to build the game out to have a full survival mode – as well as, “a huge new open world to explore with buildings that can be scavenged and taken apart, a day and night cycle, deadly enemies to fight, weapons and explosives that can be used in many creative ways, further character customization, new awesome building parts and tools and an improved multiplayer function.”
The game is sitting at $19.99, and will be free upon full release to anyone who purchased the Early Access title. If the following poetic and amazing review by Steam user Skampy means anything, then this is a game that’s worth checking out.
