Way to the Woods is the creation of 16-year-old Melbourne based student and independent developer Anthony Tan of Studio Happy Bee, it’s a game which caught everyone’s attention when early screenshots of the stunning game were shared across the web and received praise from the likes of Hello Games’ Sean Murray.
It also caught the attention of Team 17 who has announced today that it has partnered with Happy Bee to publish the highly anticipated adventure game, Way to the Woods
“Way to the Woods is an absolutely beautiful, unique looking game and upon speaking with Anthony, we could not have been more impressed. He’s an incredibly mature person for his age with a very bright future ahead of him and it’s mind blowing what he’s achieved thus far. Team17 is helping nurture a number of studios around the world and I personally can’t wait to help Anthony achieve his goals. We’re extremely excited to be here to share this journey with him,” said Debbie Bestwick, CEO of Team17.
Way to the Woods is a gorgeous looking adventure game where players take the role of a deer and her fawn as they explore the strange world filled with “surreal imagery.” It draws heavy influence from the likes of Studio Ghibli, and is the creation of just one 16-year-old guy. It’ll also be getting a soundtrack by London-based musician and composer, Jeremy Warmsley.
Right now there’s no release date for the game, but as Team 17 are involved, chances are we can expect the game to land on PC and possibly Xbox One.
