Humble Bundle has today revealed that it’s to start developing its own original titles that’ll launch exclusively through the company’s monthly games subscription package, which has around 70,000 users.
Humble Originals as they’ll be called, will launch exclusively via this monthly bundle initiative which was introduced last year and has players paying $12 a month for a blind selection of video games.
Past titles in the monthly subscription have offered games like Volume, Alien Isolation, Broken Age, and Titan Souls, to name a few. They’ve become pretty popular too with co-founder John Graham revealing to Destructoid that they currently have 70,000 subscribers. And while it had a rocky start, Graham revealed that:
“We can make meaningful deals with game developers to secure great content, we get to write our featured charity a $30,000+ check, and, because we can predict revenues fairly accurately, we’ve even started funding some small gaming projects, Humble Originals, that you won’t find anywhere else and that our subscribers will get to play first.”
Humble’s first self-funded Humble Original is titled “Elephant in the Room” from Mighty Rabbit Studios, which was included as part of the February Bundle. Humble Originals will be released first through Humble Monthly packs, with some games eventually being made through other avenues.
Humble has since announced the first title to launch for March, which is ARK: Survival Evolved, this game will join a handful of other mystery titles, and those who subscribe for next month’s bundle now, will get immediate access to ARK.
