Following many rumours and a recent leak, Samsung has finally confirmed that they’ll be announcing the “next Galaxy” on February 21, 2016 at their annual Unpacked event.
At the end of the month this year’s annual Mobile World Congress will take place, but not before companies like Samsung and LG hold their press events. The latest company to announce their event date is of course Samsung, who has revealed that they’ll be announcing the next Galaxy on Feb. 21. The event date was actually leaked earlier this morning.
The event will begin at 1PM EST and will of course be live-streamed through Samsung’s YouTube channel. In the announcement video, which you can see above, you’ll see a person wearing a Gear VR headset, reaching for a cube with highlighted corners which form a seven. With that we can likely expect the Samsung Galaxy S7 to be announced, probably along side another “Edge” device, too.
According to previous leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will come with a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 processor, 4GB RAM, and a 12 megapixel camera powered by Samsung’s new BRITECELL sensor. Interestingly it’ll look almost identical to the current Galaxy S6. The Galaxy S7 Edge, which is also rumoured, will offer similar specs, but with a larger 5.5-inch curved screen.
