Spotify is hoping to entice new users to try Spotify Premium by offering a free Chromecast to all who sign up from now until February 28.
The new Chromecast looks like a big of an odd-ball device but along with a number of new additions, the Chromecast now finally supports Spotify, allowing users with HDMI TVs and speakers with Aux-inputs to stream their Spotify playlists whenever and wherever. So by offering a free Chromecast to its free users, they’re offering a lot more than just ad-free music.
Spotify currently has a ton of free users but not as many paying users, and with services like Apple Music and now Tidal, breathing down its neck, they’re looking outside of the box to encourage people to sign up. All those who do, if you’re a new customer, will get a month free with Spotify premium, as well as Chromecast, however there is a caveat.
You’ll need to sign up to a three-month premium account, which costs £30 – the same price as the free Chromecast. The offer is also only available in the US and the UK to those who haven’t already redeemed Spotify’s free trial.
What do you think? Is it worth it?
