The jailbreak development team, Pangu, has updated its tool to support iOS 9.1 and it has also said a jailbreak for the Apple TV 4 will be out later this week.

This latest jailbreak works on the 64 bit devices running 9.1 including the newest devices, the iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Pro. Those who’ve already updated to 9.2.1 are out of luck as the exploit for this jailbreak was patched in 9.2. Also, Apple has stopped signing the 9.1 firmware, meaning you can not downgrade. Those who chose to stick to 9.1 have been rewarded.

A tip for all novice jailbreakers is never to update to a newer firmware unless you’re sure that there’s a jailbreak for it.

The team has also announced that the Apple TV 4 will be getting a jailbreak soon. However, for the moment, it only has SSH access meaning that there won’t be any GUI changes and it’s mainly meant for developers. You can probably expect more user-friendly improvements in future updates though. Anything right now would mark an improvement on the previous generation Apple TV, which did not even have a jailbreak.

You can download the Pangu tool from the team’s website. As with all jailbreaks, we advise you to be aware of the risks involved and the fact that it will void your warranty.
