From Software’s latest foray into torture, Dark Souls 3, has shipped 3 million units worldwide Bandai Namco has announced, pushing the Souls series overall past 13 million units.
In a Japanese press release translated by Gematsu, Bandai Namco revealed that Dark Souls 3 did pretty favourably in the west, with 1.5 million copies shipping in North American and Europe, and only 500,000 copies shipping in Japan and Asia.
To break it down, back in July last year From Software noted that the original Dark Souls, which launched in 2011, and its expansion Artorias of the Abyss, sold more than 5.6 million units.
Dark Souls 2 on the other hand, sold 2.9 million worldwide, including the re-release which included the Scholar of the First Sin expansion.
The future of Dark Souls is uncertain right now, while From Software’s director says that Dark Souls 3 is the last game from From Software, but Bandai Namco are indeed free to expand on it and could perhaps bring another developer in on another game.
