Take-Two Interactive has revealed this week that Rockstar Games may be announcing “exciting future projects” soon, but before you get too excited the company later clarified that we’ll likely be playing them in 2017 at the soonest.
Speaking during Take-Two’s earnings call this week, CEO Strauss Zelnic said that Rockstar Games wouldn’t be releasing a new game in the current fiscal year, when ends on March 31, 2017. This means that the earliest we’d see a new Rockstar Games title is April 2017.
An announcement however will likely be coming way sooner, most likely at E3 next month.
In the mean time, Rockstar Games last release, Grand Theft Auto V, continues to make money for Take-Two, even without any new releases. The game’s online mode, GTA Online is also still winning over players with the game’s microtransactions being big business.
As for the future of Rockstar Games, we’re all hoping that the new title that’s to be announced will be Red Dead Redemption 2, a franchise Take-Two has called “permanent.”
