If you’re still debating whether to upgrade to Windows 10 as part of the free upgrade program, then you’ve not got too long to wait as come July 30 you’ll be required to pay over $100 to upgrade.
Microsoft is sending out a quick reminder to Windows PC users that the free promotion for Windows 10 upgrades is finishing pretty soon. Having been available for a little under a year now, Windows 10 now has over 300 million users, but there’s still a huge chunk of users who are still clinging onto Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
On July 30 however, the free upgrade promotion will come to and end, and from this day on those wanting to upgrade will have to fork out for a full licence for the OS which will cost $119 for Windows 10 Home, or alternatively, buy a completely new PC with Windows 10 pre-installed.
“Time is running out,” says Yusuf Mehdi, who heads up Microsoft’s Windows and devices marketing efforts. “The free upgrade offer will end on July 29th and we want to make sure you don’t miss out.”
This gives you a little over two months to mull over the upgrade, though for some, the upgrade has been more of a pain in the ass than anything.
