With XSEED bringing Akiba’s Beat to the west, we were surprised at E3 earlier this week with a gameplay trailer and a swath of information about the upcoming entry into the Akbia’s series.
Akiba’s Beat introduces us to a new acronym, NEET, which is short for “No Experience, Education, or Traning” and is typically reserved for people who mooch off their parents to play video games and watch anime all day. The game’s main protagonist is one of these people living a cozy life in Akihabara, but things get shaken up with Sunday repeats itself, forever.
In an endless atemporal loop, where the day restarts as soon as it ends, our hero Asahi is one of only a few “whosememories” who don’t reset with it. Together with the other whosememories, Asahi must scour Akihabara for signs of “delusions”, the inner most fantasies of people who manifest and change the cityscape, and destroy them.
It sounds pretty exciting, although a little complicated.
Akiba’s Beat is set to feature real-time RPG combat, real-world settings within Akihabara, and “Modern-Day Mystery with a Touch of Satire”.
