EA Games has cancelled Burnout developer Criterion Game’s upcoming “extreme” racer to help out with other Star Wars titles.
Two years ago, at E3, EA unveiled a new extreme driving game from Burnout developer, Criterion Games, which blended extreme sports with ATV and speed boat racing. Since then however, it’s been pretty quiet about the whole thing. Now, we finally have some news about the game, but it’s not good.
EA Games has announced that Criterion Games is no longer working on the extreme sports racer, but instead will aid the development of new Star Wars games.
“While they’ve moved on from the previous project they’ve spoken about and aren’t pursuing it, they are continuing to build new ideas and experiment with new IP for EA, in addition to continuing to collaborate with other EA studios,” explains EA Games to GameSpot.
Criterion previously helped out on the speeder bikes in Star Wars Battlefront, and will also be working on the recently announced virtual reality version of Battlefront.
Fortunately on the extreme sports front, we’ve got Ubisoft’s Steep to look forward to.
