Following in the footsteps of Blizzard, Ubisoft will now begin banning cheaters and hackers on their first offence.
Blizzard announced ahead of the release of Overwatch that if players were to cheat or hack the game, they’d be instantly banned, no questions asked, and now it seems Ubisoft has decided to take a similar approach.
“The presence of cheating in the game is something we take very seriously, and is a priority on the development team,” the company said. “This update is one step among many that we are working on to better engage with the community on this issue.”
Ubisoft defines cheating, modding, and hacking as a player who is running a modified or otherwise unauthorised version of the game client, or using third party software which provides unfair advantage, or “causing detriment to other players’ experience.”
However, it looks as if they won’t be as harsh as Blizzard as they clarified in their FAQ that not all players will receive an instant ban, instead some will have a temporary ban depending on their actions. Ubisoft also detailed that they’re working on a new client-side anti-cheat option that’ll be implemented in the future.
