When 2K Games announced XCOM 2 and revealed that it would only be launching for PC, many wondered whether a console version of the game would be coming at a later date. But with no mention of the latter, all hope was lost, until now.
Today 2K Games has revealed that XCOM 2 is indeed coming to consoles with a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch scheduled for September 9. 2K and Firaxis Games have partnered with The Workshop to bring the game to consoles, and ensure that the game’s experience meets the same high standards of the franchise.
“Firaxis has successfully enhanced the XCOM franchise, as XCOM 2 has earned both massive critical and fan acclaim,” said Matt Gorman, vice president of marketing for 2K. “Many console gamers have been vocal about bringing XCOM 2 to their platforms, and now they can look forward to joining the resistance this September.”
