Sometimes leaks fall of deaf ears, that is until everything in that leak is pretty much confirmed. And that’s exactly why a video which was published before the announcement of Battlefield 1 is now only just being noticed.
Since the announcement of Battlefield 1, the game has received a number of leaks as well as confirmed information, with the biggest dump landing earlier this week. This new leak, as well as the already confirmed info from EA Games, aligns perfectly with a video from YouTube user AlmightyDaq, which was posted ahead of the Battlefield 1 announcement.
So naturally, everyone has since flocked to the video to see if there’s any more juicy goodness, and there is. It comes in the form of a game mode which has yet to be confirmed or even leaked: Capture the Pigeon.
In the video, AlmightyDaq explained the mode as follows:
“Pigeon functions like a flag that must be held for a certain amount of time before the pigeon flies away towards the base, carrying a message, thus scoring your team a point,” he said. “It’s pretty ridiculous sounding, but take my word for it. Or don’t, and wait until the game is announced or the game mode is shown off.”
Many have since speculated that the official game mode, Possession, is the new game mode for Capture the Pigeon.
Pigeons were used during WW1 to send messages, so it wouldn’t seem too odd if players were given a game mode surrounding the war’s most vital message carrying bird.
