At Comic-Con this weekend, FOX unveiled some new footage for their limited-series Prison Break revival which shows Michael Schofield once again coming up with a plan to escape from another prison.
During the Comic-Con panel, Prison Break star Dominic Purcell revealed that the idea for the revival was born after he and Wentworth Miller, were reunited on The Flash. Purcell also thanked Miller for helping get him cast on The Flash.
“We got on set, and it was just like we hadn’t been apart for all these years, and we started to warm to the idea of why not ‘Prison Break’?” Purcell said, adding that “The greenlight essentially came from Wentworth,” following a talk with series’ producers.
Unlike the later season of Prison Break, Miller added that it was important for the new show to have a fresh look at the core concept of the show. Fortunately it looks like that has been achieved thanks to creator Paul Scheuring, Miller added.
“I figured that we would have to be true to the show’s DNA, but once Paul Scheuring signed on to spearhead these nine episodes,” Miller’s concerns were put to rest, he said. “I wanted it to be something you remember, but also something radical and different and new.”
Prison Break’s upcoming revival is set to land on FOX some time in early 2017.
