Life is Strange is set to become a TV series, Square Enix has announced. The publisher is partnering with Legendary Digital Studios and DJ2 Entertainment to adapt the cult adventure game into a digital series.
“We’re proud and excited to be working alongside Legendary to realise a new version of Arcadia Bay and Blackwell Academy complete with our rich cast of realistic, believable characters and memorable events,” said Jon Brooke, vice president for brand and European marketing at Square Enix.
Right now, it’s early days and there’s currently no word on the cast of the series, or when it’ll premiere. In fact, all we actually know is that it’s coming at some point, the studio is “currently meeting with potential writers,” according to the press release, so it may be some time until we hear something solid.
D2J is currently working with Sony Pictures on their Sonic the Hedgehog film, a live-action CGI flick, set to launch in 2018. Legendary Digital’s past work also include the live-action Dead Rising films for Crackle.
Life is Strange, is still one of my top games of all time, already plays out like a TV series, though with player choice being a pretty big part of the game I find it hard to see how well it’d work as a live-action series.
