According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Tomb Raider reboot movie is now set to launch on March 16, 2018.
The report claims that Warner Bros. initially decided to reserve the quiet timeslot for a DC Comics movie, with rumours suggesting that it could be for The Flash, but opted instead to offer the slot to Tomb Raider. The studio has yet to offer a release date for The Flash.
Little is know about the movie at this point other than actress Alicia Vikander taking the role of Lara Croft. Vikander recently won an Academy Award for best supporting actress in The Danish Girl.
The movie will also be directed by Roar Uthaug, a relatively unknown Nordic film maker who’s known for Norwegian movies, The Wave and Escape.
MGM and Warner Bros. are co-producing the movie, after acquiring rights from GK Films, with MGM overseeing production.
