It’s finally happening, SEGA has this weekend unveiled two brand new Sonic the Hedgehog titles, Sonic Mania and Project Sonic 2017, which hope to rekindle our love for all things fast and blue.
Sonic Mania is probably the game I’m most excited for as it brings the classic platformer back to its roots. This retro-inspired 2D Sonic game is set to launch in Spring 2017.
The Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account announced the title along with a brand new trailer which you can see in the Tweet embedded below.

The game will offer three playable characters, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, and will offer classic gameplay with some new additions like the drop and dash, a ton of new levels, as well as some new twists on old stages.
In other Sonic news, it looks like SEGA is also bringing the classic Sonic to a more modern era. He’s regained his classic experience and has tossed away the scarf in a brand new 3D adventure which reminds us a lot of Sonic Generations.
Details are pretty thin at this point, but the game is due for release during the 2017 holiday season for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo’s upcoming console, NX.
