Ubisoft has this week confirmed the rumours and have announced Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection, a complete compendium of Assassin’s Creed titles all of which feature the protagonist Ezio.
Having shipped over 100 million copies, the Assassin’s Creed series is a pretty big deal for Ubisoft. So to celebrate this massive milestone, the company are releasing a remastered collection of Assassin’s Creed games this November.
“Creating an Assassin’s Creed game is no easy task. It takes the creativity and hard work of many people in many different Ubisoft studios all over the world,” says Martin Schelling, senior producer. “To have this franchise join the ranks of those that have reached more than 100m sold is a testament to the teams that have taken on that challenge over the years.”
Included in The Ezio Collection is Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations, as well as all of their single-player expansions. The reason for the collection to focus on these three games in particular is due to the company taking a massive gamble with the second game in the series.
“Its Third Crusade-era Middle Eastern setting was swapped out for the 15th-century Italian Renaissance, and the redemptive struggle of Altaïr Ibn La’Ahad made way for the cocky charm of Ezio Auditore da Firenze,” Ubisoft wrote in a blog post.
“We were all thinking, ‘what is wrong with us!?’” says Aymar Azaizia, head of content for the Assassin’s Creed brand. “We’d just created an amazing hero, Altaïr, that everyone loved, and we are taking the risk to get rid of him for a new guy.”
Fortunately for Ubisoft, this new character and the new setting won players over and made the series what it is today.
Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection will be available on November 15 on Xbox One and PS4.
