Here’s something that comes as hardly a surprise, Sony has today announced that The Last Guardian will now have a December release date, rather than the previous October 25 release date.
In a post on the PlayStation blog, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida said the delay was a difficult decision, but one that clearly had to be done as the company encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development”.
The game will now launch just in time for Christmas on December 8, 2016 in the UK and Ireleand, and December 7 across Europe.
“To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues,” Yoshida continued. “Our development continues to push itself to the fullest and we look forward to revealing new content towards the launch.
“We appreciate your continued support.”
Though it’s disappointing, it’s hardly unexpected as the game has been in development for quite a while now (2007 to be precise) and has suffered a handful of delays, so much so that Sony actually reannounced the game for PlayStation 4 at E3 last year.
