Metalhead Software has today announced the next step in the Super Mega Baseball series, Super Mega Baseball 2, which hopes to improve on its predecessor with added realism, more customisation, and online multiplayer.
Super Mega Baseball is a pretty great entry-level game into the world of baseball. Whether you understand the rules or not, I found it pretty accessible and pretty fun. It also helped that the game was filled with little bobble-head characters.
However, in Super Mega Baseball 2 things are about to get serious as we’re no longer playing with big-headded players, instead character models become more proportionate and we can finally play with our own team thanks to some new customisation options.
Super Mega Baseball 2 is set to arrive on Xbox One, Steam, and PlayStation 4 in 2017. It’ll come with a swath of improvements as well as customisation options and online multiplayer. There’s also set to be a number of new and updated stadiums, a more modern interface.
While realism is definitely at the core of the sequel, the game still carries the animated charm of the first, which I’m happy to see.

Super Mega Baseball, for those who are yet to get it, will be part of this month’s Games with Gold, so definitely check it out.
